Bespoke Playground Installation with Wetpour Surfacing & Multiplay Tower in Newport Wales
We’re delighted to share one of our latest playground installations at a Welsh primary school in Newport. This project involved the delivery of a modern, inclusive outdoor play space featuring a striking Lappset Motoric Track Multiplay Tower and a steel swing frame, with premium wet pour safety surfacing.
This school caters to children with a wide range of needs, and our design was guided by a commitment to accessibility, safety, and long-term durability. We worked closely with the client to create a space that would encourage physical activity, imaginative play, and social interaction for every child.
Equipment Installed
- Motoric Track Multiplay Tower: An interconnected play structure with slides, bridges, crawl-through tunnels and climbing features to promote movement, balance, and adventure.
- Steel Swing Frame: Featuring a flat swing and basket seat to accommodate all age groups and abilities.
- Wet pour Rubber Safety Surfacing: Installed in sleek black for visual impact and fall protection, with advanced preparation to ensure maximum durability.
Enhanced Wetpour Installation
To meet the school’s high standards for accessibility and safety, we took the following steps during surfacing:
- Flush Installation: We removed the existing tarmac and installed the new surface flush with the surrounding yard, removing any trip hazards or level changes.
- Steel Reinforced Edging: For added longevity, a steel edge was installed to prevent cracking, movement, or weathering over time.
- Custom Layout: The surfacing was designed around the structure to follow its curves and create soft, organic zones of activity.
Design Highlights
The Motoric Track Multiplay Tower encourages children to explore, climb, crawl and slide, with multiple routes in and out for seamless flow. It includes:
staggered climbing elements, a clear tunnel, suspended rope bridge, timber walkways, and multiple decks at varying heights.
The swing area includes both a traditional flat seat and a basket swing, allowing more than one child to play at once while catering to children with different physical needs.
Why It Works
This is a fantastic example of how schools can invest in playground equipment for inclusive education. The surfacing and layout not only meet the requirements for fall protection but actively improve accessibility for pupils using mobility aids. It’s a space designed to grow with the children, allowing them to push boundaries and build confidence safely.
