Burton Community Council Playground Transformation
Adventure Playgrounds Wales is proud to showcase our recent project for Burton Community Council, a wonderful transformation that brought imaginative and inclusive play to the heart of the community. What began as a simple request for a safe play area for toddlers evolved into a beautifully executed multi-feature playground that encourages creativity, exploration and active outdoor play.
From Concept to Completion: A Vision Realised
The council approached Adventure Playgrounds Wales with a vision: a secure and engaging play environment that would cater specifically to toddlers, especially those with bikes. To meet this need, we developed a bespoke playground design that would offer both functional space for ride-on play and equipment that stimulated fun and physical activity for all.
Using our 2D concept drawing as a starting point, we installed a large wet pour safety surface complete with a looping track, perfect for scooters and bikes. This surface offers great drainage and impact absorbing properties, making it a safe and accessible foundation for children of all abilities.
Adding Play Value: The Mound and More
To further enhance the play experience, we introduced a creative mound feature in the centre of the track. This mound became the focal point of the play area, incorporating:
- A stainless steel slide for dynamic fun
- A tunnel for crawl-through adventure
- Timber log steps to encourage balance and coordination
These features ensure that children who aren’t using bikes still have exciting elements to explore.
Play Features That Spark Joy
The site now includes a variety of play equipment designed to cater to different interests and age groups, such as:
- A basket swing that provides inclusive fun for children of varying abilities
- Interactive play panels that encourage sensory play and early learning
- A spinning bowl for dynamic, rotational movement
- A two-seat springer for cooperative play
- An extension to the existing play tower, complete with an additional slide to boost play value
The natural setting of the park complements the design beautifully, with open green spaces and rustic wooden fencing enhancing the area’s aesthetic appeal. Our installation team worked meticulously to blend the new equipment with the existing landscape while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
